I'm not super happy about potentially letting this rifle go, but I have too many 'unicorns' already and would rather fund a new time piece or something else.
This is NOT one of the Apex M61 kits. I spent years putting this rifle together after finding a NWM Dutch/prototype G3 handguard and bipod (the CETME and standard early G3 parts are not the same as this one). This same handguard with extra vent holes and bipod can be seen on the HK-32 prototype shown below.
With those parts, the following was sourced and assembled to create the prototype G3/CETME rifle sent to Aberdeen proving grounds:
-CETME C receiver flat with no mag-well ribbing
-CETME B Carry handle, flashhider, front sight tower, and recoil backplate
-Original 1960 Bundeswehr surplus first pattern G3 barrel, trunnion and cocking tube assembly
-Early G3 lower and rear sight
-Custom made rear sight mount
-Custom modified G3 wood stock, spliced to fit the straight (not tapered) recoil plate
-US Walnut Wood pistol grip
I had Black Ops Defense bend the flat and assemble the trunnion/barrel. The cocking tube was modified by me to fit the carry handle. The rear sight mount I also made myself, and had to reverse engineer it from reference photos.
Rifle was manganese parked like the early G3s were.
